Today's Quick Thoughts Re: Momming

As all mothers know, being a mom is quite the adventure. It's amazing what babies make us do. I spend time making squeaks, caws, and laughs I've never made before and talking to my daughter like I've never talked to anyone. Why? I love to see her smile. Ella's smile and sweet laughter are my favorite things on the planet. Since becoming a mom 6 and a half months ago, I have shaved my legs less than a handful of times. I'd like to think I'm rolling like the Europeans. I don't need to express my femininity through shaven legs, I just need to 'mom' and that means 4 minute showers because I don't want to leave her unattended for to long at this age. The start of the "grab and want to suck on everything" age. It's really starting to get interesting.  Not to mention nursing is a trip. My boobs go back and forth between different sizes and weight all day long. If it weren't for disposable milk absorbers, I'd have two wet ...

What more could you ask for?

Breakfast is not only the suggested most important meal of the day but it is also my personal favorite. The possibilities are endless with a single egg. Most of the time my go to is far too much spinach with an egg tossed in and a splash of cream. At the end, a sprinkle of cheese, maybe some sour cream and a piece of toast to finish off the meal. Coffee on the side of course.  My new favorite however, is my breakfast sandwich and yogurt parfait. It's simple but definitely gets the job done. Butter instead of oil in the pan. (yum) Egg over medium. When the egg is ready, get one slice of sourdough bread, cut it in half and a slice of Gouda or cheddar cheese.  Put your sandwich together in the pan and wait for bread to brown slightly on both sides.  Once that is done I open up the sandwich and add sour cream to the side of bread that was touching the egg along with spinach or arugula.  While the sandwich is cooking in the pan I make my parfait. Stra...

Tagging

Anything that has to do with paper and string I love, so naturally I spent today making tags. You can use these tiny pieces of paper and string for lunch notes, gift tags, name tags for parties or gatherings, and a lot more. The possibilities are seriously endless. The little things in life can often mean the most or add the final touch. One of the best parts about home made tags? NO PLASTIC! Since having a baby I feel like I've been drowning in those plastic pieces that all tags are on in department stores. Everything my baby wears is brought home with at least one piece of throw away plastic. Though they might be fun to chew on, they really aren't great for the environment. Not to mention, I always find the ends in the carpet. How did it miss the trash? On final note, for those of you who do not know, I have a crafting Instagram page. Username, @creativepaigepage2 You can personal message me on my page if you're interested in tags, cards, banners, or like I said, ...

"...Like a Drug"

I had it about 2 months before I realized what it would do to me. It was time. Time to test the waters -  or in my case, jump all the way in. At first it was just a little, then a lot. Before I knew it, it was like I had tried on 100 wedding dresses and completely forgot what I liked any more. I wanted it all. "Let's try this... and this one... and this one... and this one." More, more, more, more, more. I had become a recluse in my room. Normal human interaction was almost a challenge because after all, I had been having one way conversations with my 6 month old daughter. This was crazy. It was addicting. It was all I wanted to do. My Cricut Explore Air 2 had captured me and I was in love. This last weekend I decided to "jump all the way in" with my Cricut Explore Air 2. The sky is certainly the limit with this machine. There are so many cuts and ideas I was going nuts trying to figure out what I wanted anymore. I spent all of Saturday locked away at my...

Moms Will Get This

When you have a baby, talking to yourself becomes a totally normal thing Why does everyone say they hate the smell of spit up? Her (or his) first words were "hi" and "mama".....yes, she was only 2 months old at the time, but it happened That spit up stain on you see everyday on my shoulder, that's called a name tag: "Mom" My baby is the cutest on the planet, obviously Baby wipes? You mean makeup removing wipes? Who needs a special burp rag that cost 10 dollars when you have kitchen towels? Imagine if I had as many clothes as my baby You know it's time for you to eat when baby starts crying Please, be happy and content for 10 minutes so I can get ready for the day I can't wait for you to start talking and walking Why can't she be the size of a loaf of bread again?! Babies can be blamed for any bad smell or when you're running late Why do people have more than one baby? Now I get why people have more babies ...

What Do I Even Like?

Yesterday I was at Goodwill with my mom and brother and while I was looking at the clothing, my brother asked me what "Paige as a mom" wanted for Christmas. It was in that moment I realized, I don't really know what I like any more. All I could think about was diapers or Starbucks and Starbucks really doesn't count. I've found myself trying to figure out what I actually like besides anything to do with Ella and boy, it's a tough one. When your little person comes into the world nothing else seems to matter - nothing.  What do moms like? I like face wash and face lotions or grocery shopping... Anything organic or all natural... plants are neat, like the scallions I'm proudly growing in a cup in the kitchen. The scallions are like my little plant children. I'm 21 years old and that's all I got on the list of 'what I like' - What an odd thing. Mom Likes: plants groceries face lotions eye cream organic all natural nifty cooking spa...

SEX.... Do I have your attention now?

It's amazing just how much the world revolves around sex. Women post pictures of themselves wearing just a bra and underwear. The latest Netflix original television series almost always have both male and female nudity. The clothing is getting more see through and skimpier by the minute. In this world we all want attention. It seems the attention we get from those who matter often isn't enough. Some find an outlet in social media sites called Instagram, Tumblr, or Facebook to fulfill the needs we think we need. The bikini we know today grew in popularity in the 1950s, it was shocking to the world and back then it covered twice as much more skin. Since then, swimsuits have drastically plummeted. More boob to show, more butt to show, less and less skin to cover. At this rate, we'll all be walking around naked in a few years. Let's hope not. I guess what I am trying to say is, the only approval you need is the approval you give yourself. Confidence comes from within,...
